| Unknown Kawai Bass |
|
|
| Late 1968 or early 69 |
{ABOVE}This is a late 60's Kawai bass. Note the combination of items from different
manufacturers used on this item, Teisco fretboard, Hoshino knobs and scratchplate, Fujigen neck and Teisco body. Kind of a
Frankenstien of Basses.
{BELOW}Here is a rare one, Fujigen made SG copy from late 71 or early 72. Note
the slotted headstock! Thunderous sound, maple over mohogany, finished to a mirror polish. A beautiful older bass that not
only looks good, but plays well too. This bass was in that era where Japanese manufacturers were paying attention to looks
AND quality.

| 1962 Ibanez 1902 bass |

|
| Restoration project underway! |
This is a 1962 Ibanez model 1902 bass. These were made from '62-65 in the Tama
plant, and appear under several brands, Ibanez, Dixon, Continental, and Hy-lo. Two low power pickups housed in incredibly
large tack welded cases, solid body, thumb rest, pearloid pickguard, and thick neck. Not the best of players, but they do
keep in tune well. This one is under re-construction.
| 1960's Kapa Continental Bass |

|
| Slim fast neck, single Hofner pickup! |
This old girl is a mid sixties Kapa continental bass. It looks very much like
a Fender of the same era. Made in Maryland, USA, this bass employs a single Hofner pickup, slim, fast neck, and relatively
lightweight solid body. The color on this one was a lemon yellow at one time, but it has mellowed to a lighter shade. Well
made bass, and a decent player.....

| 1968 Greco violin bass |

|
| Hofner Beatle bass copy! |
This is a beautiful example of the beginning of the copy era...a 1968 Greco violin
bass copy, model 971. These of course are meant to immitate the Hofner basses made famous by Paul McCartney of the beatles.
Nice light body, with more of a guitar type of sound. Relatively fast neck and versatile. The only changes made to this bass
may be the pickguard, and the re-painted headstock. This guitar was produced by either Teisco or Fujigen for Kanda Shokai(Grecos
parent company}.There is also a larger bodied version of this bass from the same era, model 972, with a larger lower bout
and longer scale neck...
| 1968 Ibanez 330/335 copy bass |

|
| Nice full sound with a light weight body.... |
This is a 1968 Ibanez 330/335 copy bass. It is either Teisco or Fugigen made for
Hoshino. Nice light weight, full sound, and comfortable neck. All original....a rare find.
| 1970's Starfield{Hoshino/Ibanez} Bass |

|
| "Lawsuit era" fretless Jazz bass copy |
This is a mid 70's Starfield bass by Hoshino. This is one of the so called "lawsuit
era" designs. I say so called because only one lawsuit was ever filed, and it didnt involve Fender copies which is what this
is. This is a great bass, heavy, fast neck, made even quicker by being fretless. Missing the original pickguard, but thats
just a cosmetic thing. Its a great player. The carnage in the backround is my oldest sons room...no comment!
